Plagiarism Policy

Journal of Innovative Midwifery Practice (JOICE) upholds the highest standards of academic integrity and strictly prohibits all forms of plagiarism and academic misconduct.

1. Originality Requirement

All submitted manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Simultaneous submission to other journals is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate rejection.

2. Plagiarism Screening

All submissions to JOICE are routinely screened for similarity using reliable plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate). The maximum allowable similarity index is 25%, excluding properly cited quotations, references, and commonly used methodological phrases.

3. Types of Unacceptable Plagiarism

The following are considered violations of JOICE’s plagiarism policy:

  • Direct copying of text, data, or images without attribution

  • Mosaic or patchwriting from multiple sources without original synthesis

  • Self-plagiarism, including substantial overlap with the author's previous publications

  • Translation plagiarism from another language without proper citation

4. Editorial Action on Plagiarism

If plagiarism is detected at any stage:

  • Before review: The manuscript will be immediately rejected.

  • During review: The review process will be halted, and the author will be notified.

  • After publication: The article will be retracted, and a retraction notice will be published online.

Authors found to have violated this policy may also be reported to their institution or funding body and may be barred from submitting to JOICE in the future.

5. Author Responsibility

It is the responsibility of all authors to ensure that their submitted work is free from plagiarism and appropriately cites all sources and contributions. By submitting to JOICE, authors confirm the originality of their manuscript and adherence to this policy.
